Sealed prices and singles prices tell you two different stories about the same set. Reading them together is most of the work.
A set still in print has a ceiling: as long as boxes are on shelves, singles stay tethered to how easily people can open more. The interesting movement starts once that supply stops.
What to watch
- Whether the chase cards are concentrated in one product or spread across several.
- How much of the set exists only in collector configurations.
- Whether reprints are plausible, and how soon.
None of that makes a set a good investment. It does tell you whether today’s price is likely to be the floor or the ceiling.
